The position of the car is

x =x0+v0t +0.5at^2 = 5+3*2+0.5*4*(2)^2 = 19 m

(b)

To find his position when he has a speed of 5 m/s, we apply the equation

v^2 = v0^2 +2a(x-x0) ========> (x-x0) = (v^2 -v0^2)/2a

x-x0) = (5^2 -3^2)/2*4 = 2 m)

That means

x =2+x0 =2+5 = 7m
