Would Rather is followed by a base verb and Would Prefer is followed by an infinetive

Subject + would + rather + base verb
I would rather smoke ganja than drink alcahol

Subject + would + prefer + to + verb
I would prefer to play sports than watch sports


Would you prefer to listen to rap music or classic musc
I'd rather listen to rap music than classic music
