PASSAGE TO INDIA
Forster's A PASSAGE TO INDIA, BEGINS AND END WITH A QUESTION _ CAN THE ENGLISH AND THE INDIAN RACES BE FRIENDS? at the beginning,Aziz does his best to be intimate with Fielding,Mrs.Moor, and Adela; however, this drastically changes throughout the novel. HIS SUBSEQUENT ARREST,TRIAL, AND FINAL ANTI-ENGLISH SENTIMENTS, is largely constructed around this question.
ANSWER THE QUESTION FROM THE AUTHOR'S POINT OF VIEW, THEN FROM YOURS.

2- A PASSAGE TO INDIA EXAMINES THE RACIAL MISUNDERSTANDING, CULTURAL HYPOCRISIES AND RACIAL DISCRIMINATION THAT CHARACTERISED THE BRITISH OCCUPATION OF INDIA. ELABORATE.

3- FORSTER'S MAIN OBJECTIVE IN A PASSAGE TO INDIA IS OBVIOUSLY TO EXPOSE THE INTERACTION OF THE TWO CULTURES; THE INDIAN AND THE BRITISH, THE SOCIAL AND POLITICAL SITUATION OF INDIA UNDER THE BRITISH POWER. EXPLAIN.

4- CRITICS AGREED THAT FORSTER'S A PASSAGE TO INDIA DRAWS A DETAILED PICTURE OF INDIAN SOCIETY: STYLE LIFE , RELIGIONS, LANGUAGES,, TRADITIONS, HABITS, SENTIMENTS, MANNERS, ETC...EXPLAIN.

LORD OF THE FLIES

1- William Golding writes : '' THE THEME OF LORD OF THE FLIES IS AN ATTEMPT TO TRACE THE DEFECTS OF SOCIETY BACK TO THE DEFECTS OF HUMAN NATURE. THE MORAL IS THAT THE SHAPE OF SOCIETY MUST DEPEND ON THE ETHICAL MATURE OF THE INDIVIDUAL ...'' IN A WELL-CONSTRUCTED ESSAY, DISCUSS THE STATEMENT THIS NOVEL MAKES ABOUT THIS THEME AND WHETHER YOU AGREE OR DISAGREE. AVOID PLOT SUMMARY. INSTEAD DEAL WITH WHAT DIFFERENT CHARACTERS SYMBOLIZE AND THE STATEMENT THEY MAKE ABOUT INDIVIDUALS. BE AS SPECIFIC AS POSSIBLE, AND UTILIZE INTRODUCTORY AND CONCLUDING PARAGRAPHS.

2- IDENTIFY THE MOST SIGNIFICANT SYMBOLS IN THE NOVEL. EXPLAIN HOW EACH SERVE THE THEME OF THE NOVEL.

3- MANY CRITICS OF LORD OF THE FLIES INTERPRET THAT Golding SEES NO HOPE FOR MANKIND. MANY BELIEVE THAT Golding SEES EVIL AS AN INBORN TRAIT OF MANKIND. WRITE AN ESSAY THAT SUPPORTS THIS ARGUMENT. FIRST, MAKE THE ARGUMENT THAT Golding SEES NO HOPE AND SEES EVIL AN INBORN TRAIT. SECOND, SUPPORT THAT ARGUMENT WITH EXAMPLES FROM THE NOVEL.

THE GOOD EARTH

1- IN THE GOOD EARTH, Wang WORDS ''LAND IS ONE'S FLESH AND BLOOD'' INTRODUCE THE MAIN THEME OF THE NOVEL. Wang Lung, THE CENTRAL CHARACTER OF THE NOVEL, FEELS A DEEP RESPECT FOR THE EARTH. HIS HOUSE IS MADE OF EARTH AND EVEN HIS GODS BEFORE WHOME HE PLACES INCENSE ARE ALSO MADE OF EARTH. THUS HE GAINS HIS FOOD, HIS TER, AND HIS RELIGION FROM THE EARTH. AS Pearl Buck NOTES, EVERYTHING COMES OUT OF THE EARTH , BUT ULTIMATELY EVERYTHING RETURNS TO THE EARTH. DISCUSS THIS THEME, DRAWING SUPPORT FROM THE NOVEL.

2- THE FIRST TWO CHAPTERS IMMEDIATELY ESTABLISH THE SOCIAL CONCEPT THAT A WOMAN IS AN INFERIOR PERSON TO A MAN. AT THIS TIME, WOMEN WERE BOUGHT AND SOLD AS SLAVES, AND Wang Lung DOES BUY O-lan FROM THE HOUSE OF Hwang. THE WOMAN HAS TO WALK SIX PACES BEHIND THE MAN , AND SHE DOES NOT SPEAK UNLESS SPOKEN TO. FURTHERMORE, Wang Lung's FATHER PRETENDS NOT EVEN TO NOTICE HER WHEN THEY ARRIVE HOME FOR THE FIRST TIME ..TO Wang Lung, O-lan WAS '' ...ONLY A WOMAN.'' ELABORATE ON THE SOCIAL STATUS OF WOMAN IN THE NOVEL'S ERA THROUGH WHAT YOU HAVE READ.

3- ONE OF THE GREATEST VALUE OF THE GOOD EARTH IS ATTEMPT TO PRESENT FOR THE READER A CLEAR VIEW OF THE CHINESE CULTURE --A CULTURE THAT IS VASTLY DIFFERENT FROM WESTERN CIVILIZATION. Pearl Buck CAPTURES THIS CULTURE WITH COMPLETE OBJECTIVITY, GIVING AN ACCURATE , JOURNALISTIC ACCOUNT OF THE LIFE OF CHINESE FARMER. EXPLAIN

4- LIST THREE MAJOR THEMES THAT RUN THROUGH THIS BOOK. AFTER LISTING THEM , CHOOSE ONE AND WRITE ABOUT IT . INCLUDE EXAMPLES FROM THE STORY THAT SUPPORT IT AS MAJOR THEME.
