السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاتة
هذة ثلاث مقالات الاولى توضح علاقة wordworth واتحاده بالطبية , والثانية عن childhood في chimney , والثالثة علاقتة بالدين

I wandered lonely as a cloud

William Wordsworth in his Poem “I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud” clarifies the importance of nature and the close bond between mankind and nature. He creates a feeling of solitary bliss with nature.
This poem depicts the poet’s aimless wandering and his discovery of a field of daffodils by a lake, the memory of which pleases him and comforts him when he is lonely or bored. The first line of the poem phorically compares the speaker to a cloud. This comparison to a cloud gives us the impression that the speaker’s spirit is unbounded, free and light-hearted just as a cloud. Wordsworth uses reverse personification to create the idea of inherent unity between man and nature. The poet compares himself to a cloud while the daffodils are personified as a crowd of people. This personification indicates the contrast of feelings with the beauty of nature either feeling lonely or finding the unity and companionship.
Clearly, the poet values the rewards of nature above material possessions by using the word “wealth”. He alludes that nature is an essential aspect of a person’s life. Wordsworth emphasizes the power of vision. The deion places more value on natural beauty over human creations that result from complex thought processes. Through using literary techniques, Wordsworth creates a work to honor the nature.
I think that through this poem, Wordsworth was trying to translate his discovery that more joy can be found in the simple, untouched aspects of nature over the material gains.

Childhood in Blake’s “The Chimney Sweeper”
William Blake in his poem addresses a social issue publicized during his time. He protests against the living conditions, working conditions, and the overall treatment of young chimney sweeps in the cities of England.
In this poem, the boy sees the injustice and speaks against the establishments that left him where he is. This boy is an example of all young people who work as chimney sweeps. They slept in cellars on bags of the soot that they had swept, and they were poorly fed and clothed. They would sweep the chimney naked so their masters would not have to replace clothing ruined, and they were rarely bathed. Those who were not killed by fires in chimneys usually died early anyway. Many people viewed them as subhuman creatures and not as part of human society. They are usually exploited and oppressed. This image of childhood which is portrayed by this young chimney sweeper highlights the situation where children are isolated from society and institutions in the same line as their parents, who think they do no harm.
The boy believes that his pious parents sold him as a chimney sweeper because he was happy. Thus, the parents have the idea of depriving the childhood from happiness. Clothing him “in the clothes f death” refers to their life as a social outcast and their being destined to an early death because of the working and the living conditions of their profession.
Blake attempts to create a disturbing portrait which reflects a rapidly harsh point of view. He depicts the boy as “A little black thing among the snow”. Just a society neglects to view these children as valid members of the civilized culture; Blake does not even acknowledge that the child is human at all. He is nothing more than a “thing”, a tiny black dot spoiling the pure whiteness of the snow. The child seems to blame his parents for putting him in his torturous position. His speech is filled with a palpable sense of sarcasm. The boy has become wise enough to realize that he has been abandoned by his parents, as well as by society as a whole, as the “parents” spoken of in the poem could be seen as a societal phor. Blake seems to think it ironic that people who abandon their own children are the same ones who devoutly worship.
In sum, instead of portraying and considering the children as the white innocent dots in the corruption of civilized life, they have been depicted as little black things in the whiteness of snow. They have been deprived from their happiness and innocence instead of being endowed them.

Blake’s views on religion in his poem “The Chimney Sweeper”
Deeply reading the Chimney sweeper, Blake presents a world where misery, inhumanity, and frailty are presented in a seemingly darker, sadder fashion. He still aims to create a social commentary through his poem, and continues to speak out against the desolate life which the young chimney sweeps were forced.
Blake criticizes the churches and the religious institutions through the words of the chimney sweeps that are ignored by society as valid members of the civilized culture. He states that when saying that both parents of the child are living and have gone to the church to pray, which is a clear criticism of the Church of England since the chimney sweepers were not welcome in church. The boy believes that his pious parents sold him as a chimney sweeper because he was happy. Clothing him “in clothes of death” refers to his life as a social outcast and his being destined to an early death because of the working and living conditions of his profession. However, his parents believe that they have done no harm and have “gone to praise God and his priest and king”. This is not only a criticism of the parents who sell their children into this life but of the Church of England and the government for condoning the ill-treatment of these chimney sweeps. He also seems to be criticizing God hi, self, who seems so cruel for allowing those who practice this treatment to go unpunished. The boy does not seem to endorse the Christian idea of having joy in the midst of adversity. In fact, the God that his parents praise seems as cruel as others who allow children t be mistreated in such a way. The boy mentions established institutions such as the Church of England and the government in the same line with his parents who think they have done no harm. These institutions could have used their power to improve life for those chimney sweeps, but they have made little if any effort to do so.
Blake seems to think it ironic that people who abandon their own children are the same ones who devoutly worship. He sees this as a desperate attempt for immoral people to try and prove their worth and save their souls. It is a sad fact that the supposedly virtuous institutions would side with the immoral masses, leaving the innocent young people to experience only a slow, painful corruption.

By William Wordsworth (1770-1850).
Theme:
The poem is essentially a comment on the pleasure Wordsworth obtained from solitary observation. His use of the word 'lonely' would not have the same meaning as ours. He enjoys being alone thinking of the greatness of our God represented by what he gifts to us such as, the universe, daffodils and sun. The poem is consisted of four stanzas. ( ababcc dedeff, etc.)

• 1- I wandered lonely as a cloud
• That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
• When all at once I saw a crowd,
• A host, of golden daffodils; = crowd of people
• Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
• Fluttering and dancing in the breeze. = gentle wind

• When the poet is wandering as a single cloud in the sky which rises high over valleys and hills, he sees a group of fantastic golden daffodils under the trees, near the lake and a gentle wind is moving them so they seem as if they were dancing.
• Simile: as a cloud: He likens himself to a lonely cloud.
• Personification: crowd of daffodils – dance: he gives the daffodils human qualities.
• Symbols: 1- dance refers to the rhythm of the universe; Round dancing, refers to the sun's course in the heavens and to the eternal movement of the universe. 2- Golden round daffodils: refer to the sun itself, the sacred sun of honest wisdom, superior and noble.
• Alliteration: as – a/ high – hills/ all- at –a /
• Visual image: the image of the beautiful daffodils dancing under the trees.

• 2- Continuous as the stars that shine
• And twinkle on the milky way,
• They stretched in never-ending line
• Along the margin of a bay: = edge
• Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
• Tossing ترفع بحركة مفاجئة their heads in sprightly dance. = actively

• The movement of the daffodils is continuous and eternal like the movement of the stars. The daffodils spread along the edge of the bay and seem that they have no ending ( exactly like the stars in the sky ), In one look, the poet sees thousand of them dancing actively.
• phor: milky way: He means the heavens and universe.
• Simile: as the stars: he likens the daffodils to the stars in the sky.
• Visual image: the image of the endless daffodils dancing along the bay.
• Symbols: The stars, messengers of the gods, the eyes of night, and hope, toss their 'head,' the seat of both our intelligence and folly, honor and dishonor. Personification: the daffodils are tossing their heads (human quality).

• 3- The waves beside them danced; but they
• Out-did the sparkling waves in glee: =shining in delight
• A poet could not but be gay, = very pleasant
• In such a jocund company: = مرحة رفقة
• I gazed - and gazed - but little thought
• What wealth the show to me had brought:

• The waves of the lake's water are also dancing and shining in delight with the daffodils. As a result, the poet himself feels so happy, as if he transferred to another spiritual world which gives him a wealth of mental relief.
• Personification: the waves can't dance like humans. Visual image: the image of the waves dancing in delight.
• phor: wealth: he doesn't mean having money but he means that believing in God and thinking about his greatness; give us a comfortable life.
• Symbols: the waves refer to the fade and flow of life.

• 4- For oft, when on my couch I lie
• In vacant or in pensive mood, = thinking mood
• They flash upon that inward eye = internal
• Which is the bliss of solitude; = the highest level of happiness
• And then my heart with pleasure fills,
• And dances with the daffodils.
• Lying on a couch in a thinking mood could easily be a way to describe a meditative state where the forces of the universe and our connection with the continual movement, and our powerful God. This all make his being solitude, a happy situation to him; so his heart feels pleasant and begins to dance with the daffodils. phor: inward eye: he means his mind and thoughts.
• Symbols: "And dances with the Daffodils." Refers to the dance of angels round the throne of God.
• Visual image: the poet lying on his couch and feeling pleasant.
• Personification: The heart can't dance

William is leading the romantic poet
Essential element of romantic is the Nature
PHOR استعارة / المجاز
2- phor التشبيه المباشر
3- Simile التشبيه الغير مباشر
يمكن أن تسمى هذه القصيد أزهار النرجس

المذاكرة بهذة الطريقة كافية ان شاء الله . بس حاول في الشرح أن تدمج (figure of speech like , simle and personification) في البراقراف مثل ان تقول ( the poet personifies "crowd of daffodils" as crowd of people , and so on )
تتيسر باذن الله . الله يوفقنا جميعاً

اخي/ سطام
هذة مقالة فيها شرح لجميع stanzas في chimney اقراها وحاول تشرح كل stanza على حدة
Analysis
Unlike the one in Songs of Innocence, "The Chimney Sweeper", in Songs of Experience is very dark and pessimistic. This poem also seems to be very judgmental and gives motives for everything, but unlike Song of Innocence, the sweeper in this poem does not free himself from his misery.

In the first two lines, Blake gives us an image of an anguished child in a state of agony or even in a state of corruption. The color black seems to be very important because it is used to represent sin against innocence, the color of the white snow. Blake also shows the same child weeping, when he really means to say sweeping, because that is what has that child in such grief. This stanza ends by someone asking him about his parents, which later end up being responsible for this child’s state.

In the second stanza, the child is pictured in a very more happier and playful mood. This soon changes when he decides to tell the stranger more about his parents. They are showed to be punishing their child for being so happy by "clothing in clothes of death and teaching him to sing notes of woe." It is very obvious the sweeper’s feels hate towards his parents for putting him in such sadness, but instead he chooses to hide it by making himself look happy and satisfied.

It is clear in the last Stanza that Blake’s criticizing the Church , especially, and the state for letting a lot of these things happen. During this time many children were dying from being, either, worked to death or from malnutrition. Neither the state or the church did anything to stop this and is obviously why Blake feels so much anger towards them. The sweeper’s parents are really no help towards their own child. This makes the reader wonder, if they are worshipping god, the source of good doings, why do they chose to ignore their own child. They would rather turn their heads the other way and instead findlove at church.

I think this is a very striking poem. It clearly shows Blake’s anger towards society at this time. I also think that he used many of his poems to make people aware of the suffering of people at this time. I also think That he wrote two separate books to give a fuller effect. Songs of Innocence, I think was how people thought that everything was okay. Songs of Experience, in my opinion was to open every ones eyes.
