What is the importance of interpersonal skills?



Understanding human behavior is critical for managerial effectiveness today. To attract high-performing employees, managers must possess interpersonal skills in order to relate to the employees and create a positive and supportive work environment


What do managers do in terms of functions, roles, and skills?



roles are the “parts” managers play within an organization and involve their interaction with people.
skills: technical, human, and conceptual. These use OB to manage processes and people and to problem solve.



What is organizational behavior (OB)?.


is a field of study that investigates the impact that individuals, groups, and structure have on behavior within organizations for the purpose of applying such knowledge toward improving an organization’s effectiveness
Why is it important to complement intuition with systematic study?.


Systematic study basing on scientific evidence , Intuition, in contrast is based on one’s “gut feel both The two are complementary means of predicting behavior.

What are the major behavioral science disciplines that contribute to OB?.


psychology and sociology and Social Psychology and Anthropology


Why are there few absolutes in OB?


Human beings are complex and there are few absolutes in OB. People are not alike and therefore it is difficult to make many generalizations
