لماذا تكون بعض الحروف صامتة في نطقها في بعض الكلمات في اللغة الانجليزية ؟ هل لها قاعدة ؟
أمثلة لبعض الكلمات :

doubt الحرف b هو حرف صامت .. لماذا ؟
listen الحرف t هو حرف صامت ... لماذا ؟
recognize الحرف g هو حرف صامت .. لماذا ؟
fasten الحرف t هو حرف صامت .. لماذا ؟
castile الحرف t هو حرف صامت .. لماذا ؟
debt الحرف b هو حرف صامت .. لماذا ؟
right الحرفين gh هما حرفان صامتان .. لماذا ؟
write الحرف w هو حرف صامت .. لماذا ؟
know الحرف k هو حرف صامت .. لماذا ؟

الحرف الصامت هو الحرف الذي يكتب ولا ينطق
الحرف الساكن هو الحرف المهموس او المجهور في النطق وعلامتة ( سالب او موجب)
الحرف المتحرك هو الحرف المجهور في النطق وعلامته ( موجب )

هذا السؤال يقيم مستوانا جميعا في اللغة .. و أولكم أنا !
هذا السؤال سألة طالب في المرحلة الثانوية ( ثاني ثانوي ) لأخوي ( معلم لغة ) و أخوي سأل المشرف التربوي وللأسف ضحك المشرف وقال : الطالب سألك انت و يبغى الاجابة منك ..لأنك معلمه الذي يثق في معلوماتك و لوجبت لي الاجااااااابة صدقني لأنقلك للدماااام اللي انت تبغى تنقل لها !!! طالب نكبة وكان عايش في بريطانيا 9 سنوات والآن في الخبر .. باذن الله راح آخذ الاجابة من الدكتور عمر باقبص في الدورات التأهيلية و ينقل اخوي للدماااااااااام .. بس كل شئ بحقه ههههه

الأول: اختلاف صفات الحروف ف فيه منها القوي و فيه الضعيف فاذا كان في كلمة وحده حرفين متتالية يغلب الحرف القوي على الضعيف فيهمل ,,, سبب ضعيف
السبب الأقوى: انو اللغة الإنجيزية اعتمدت على لغات ثانية و من اشهرها اللاتينيه ,, فاقتبست منها الكلمات بنطقها و كتابتها ... و هذا سبب قوي

Here are three reasons why English has so many silent letters:

Old English was 90% phonemic (words sound the same as they look). But from the beginning of the 15th century, we began to borrow words from other languages. Because grammar and usage rules are different in other languages, adopted words did not follow the rules of English pronunciation.

The English language 'borrowed' the Latin alphabet, and so we have only got 26 letters to represent around 41 different significant sounds. This means that we must attempt to use combinations of letters to represent sounds.

In the Middle English Period William Caxton brought the printing press to England. As time passed, pronunciation continued to change, but the printing press preserved the old spelling. That's why today we have words that end in a silent 'e', or have other silent letters in the middle, like 'might'. In fact, modern day English is only 40% phonemic.

So are there any rules and can they help us? Axel Wijk (Regularized English, 1959, Stockholm: Almqvist & Wiksells) came up with over 100 rules for English spelling. It is claimed that by using these rules, you can spell up to 85% of the words in English with 90% accuracy. But is this really helpful? Basically, no! It gets so complicated that a much easier approach is to memorize sight words.

So you can see that unfortunately there is no clear way to know about all the silent letters in English.

Here is a list of common letter combinations with silent letters. This list contains most of the silent letters that give English as a second language students difficulties.
Silent B
B is not pronounced when following M at the end of a word.

يعني مثلا كلمه ( صح ) وكلمه ( يمين ) كله نفس النطق !! pronounced the same

كيف نفرق بيناتها لو كتبناها ؟! فهمت

هنا نسميهم assimilation

ليش ؟؟

لأن لو نلاحظ لما ننطقهم حرف الــ b وحرف t تصير متشابهه في النطق و هالشي يخلينا ننطقها كأنها حرف واحد ,,

غير كذا أعتقد اذا كان حرفين ساكنين ورى بعض ما ينطق الحرف الاول

مثل كلمة know

ماني متعمقه كثير بهالموضوع عشان يكون أبسط على الطلاب ولو احد عنده تعليق على المعلومة اللي عندي يصحح لي !!

وحدة بالامريكي ووحدة بالبريطااااني ولا لها كلمة شبيهة ثانية علشان نطبق القاعدة اللي انت تقول .
هاه وش السبب هنا ؟!
زماااان اذكر فية طالب سأل المدرس عن كلمة ( نهود او اثدية بالانجليزي ) تدري المدرس وش قال !!
يقول ( نهودز ) و مفردها ( نهد) !!!!!
